“It’s all about having versatility.” For that,
he found that low-voltage aluminum track
lighting by Lightolier achieved the adaptable illumination he wanted, especially for
his art collection.
“I’m not sentimental about furniture,
because I’ve moved so many times,” Duffy
says, “but I do get very attached to the
art.” The hallway is full of photographs and
drawings, mostly black and white, and there
are pieces, thoughtfully placed throughout
the space, that Duffy himself has collaborated on with friends and artists. For the
painting over the sofa in the living area, for
example, Duffy and a friend,
an interior designer and
painter, explored the idea
of a woman seated as if she
were a guest enjoying a room full of people.
Duffy loved the painting, but it was in storage for seven years before he finally moved
to this condo, where it is right at home.
“I have everything I want and feel
completely settled here,” Duffy says. “I’m
not going anywhere.”
for the master bath, Duffy designed built-in
glossy laminate cabinetry to store towels and
toiletries. The large proportions balance out the
shower and vanity at the room’s other end, and
the neutral gray color blends in with the walls.
