the 60-foot-long structure (above)
functions as both greenhouse and
entertaining space. It is just one room
deep, with the living area on the left and
the greenhouse on the right. All 40 feet of
sliding doors open to essentially create
an outdoor room. A pergola-topped
rooftop deck, reached by an outdoor
staircase, provides additional
entertaining space. Designer Michele
Foster placed a long, narrow lily pond
(left) alongside a granite retaining wall.
Earth tones suffuse the living space
(facing page) and include pale
moss-green sofas and brown Cor-Ten
steel on the low freestanding fireplace.
Dark streaks in the recycled oak floors
echo the dark frames of the glass doors.
