SIXTY-SEVEN OUTSTANDING DEALERS IN ROOM SETTINGS
UP FOR THE CHALLENGE
Sometimes it takes a little peer pressure to get things done. Seven
years ago, Linda Weinstein, an interior designer and social media
maven, thought maybe that is all it would take for her to finish — really
finish — just one room in her house. She put the squeeze on herself
and a small group of online friends by launching the first One Room
Challenge. They would work, virtually, alongside one another with the
goal of having a finished room in just six weeks.
Not only did Weinstein finish the room, but she also launched a
phenomenon that has grown into a twice-a-year design happening
with 20 designers/influencers selected by the One Room team setting
out to create memorable rooms, on a deadline, that will inspire,
entertain, and inform followers with ideas and trends in home design.
What better place than the Boston Design Center to find the
resources to meet such a challenge? To pull it together, the BDC
turned to Linda Holt of Linda Holt Creative, a Boston-area interior
designer who transformed a vacant loft space into the
urbane, colorful, art-filled living room pictured here.
Along the way, Design New England posted Holt’s
progress on the project on social media while guest
participants in the One Room Challenge offered

encouragement and motivation.
“I have been following this event since the early days,” says

Holt, “and participated as a ‘link-up designer’ in the fall of 2015.”
Sourcing from BDC showrooms, she beautifully furnished the
space, which is highlighted by a huge window overlooking South
Boston and the Boston Harbor. We think she met the challenge,
and then some. more! E M
