a window bay holds the lounging nook (above), a popular spot in the casual kitchen,
where (below) a Moroccan rug and a painting by Ted Arnold add gentle pops of color.
The kitchen island (facing page) was designed by Girling, but the cabinets from IKEA
are fitted with custom faces. Daphne Howard’s spartan office (bottom left) doubles as
a guest room. The TV area (center left) features a vintage leather sling chair and a pair
of faux-fur bean bag chairs, while the upstairs hall (top left) is decorated with lobster
buoys, an interior touch usually reserved for the exterior of Maine homes.
