mix equal parts reminiscing about the year to
date with anticipating what’s yet to come, then add in a
dash of relaxation, and you’ve got the recipe for a great
summer in New England. Right now, I’m musing over the
five fabulous Design Salons we held at locales all over the
region, where attendees gained insight into the design process from some of our favorite trade professionals. Not to
worry if you missed them — there will be another salon
series this fall.
We also had a great time at the City of Boston’s 17th
annual Rose Garden Party at the Kelleher Rose Garden
in the Fenway. At SieMatic’s Boston showroom, we got a
look at the latest in kitchen design at an event co-hosted
by Knoll. Twice we traveled to Newport, Rhode Island: in May for the Architectural Symposium at the International Tennis Hall of Fame and in June for the annual Newport Flower
Show. Coming up are the Antiques & Design Show of Nantucket (Page 118), the Newport
Antiques Show (Page 66), the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen’s Fair (Page 124), and
the New Hampshire Antiques Show (Page 123), just a few spots we’ll be hitting between trips
to the beach.
Meanwhile, we continue to develop the digital companions to the flagship print edition
of Design New England. Download the DNE app or go to designnewengland.com and look for
the icon (at left) to experience bonus content whenever the mood strikes. There,
you’ll find a behind-the-scenes video of our editorial team’s photo shoot of the
alfresco dining scenes in “Selections” (Page 33), and a photo gallery of the work
of Liz Caan, our first “House Guest” (Page 80), a new feature on individual interior designers. There is inspiration at every click.
