it’s usually quiet in new england at this time
of year. We tend to turn inward as the winter chill locks in and
storms threaten. That’s when we like to curl up with the annual
Kitchen + Bath issue of Design New England and soak up the
splendid projects we discover there. Each is full of great design
ideas to inspire major renovations or minor redesigns in our
homes come spring.
We will, however, be leaving our cocoon to attend the
annual Design Awards Gala sponsored by the Boston Society
of Architects in January. New England architects vie for top
honors for projects they design locally and around the country.
It is a remarkable reminder of just how important design and
the design community have become to the region. In fact, 2014
will see in the first-ever Boston Design Week, which has informative, fun, and insightful events
planned throughout the city. (See ad on Page 117 for more information.) Design New England will
be there, and, we hope, so will you.
For auld lang syne, we have gathered photos from design events, including several DNE
Design Salons, we enjoyed in 2013. Here’s to looking forward and back in a happy new year!
