from the publisher
we celebrated the sixth anniversary of
Design New England at the Boston International Fine
Art Show Gala Preview in November, where we also
announced our 2012 Mentors in Design (see Page 22 for
details). It was great to see so many friends and supporters on hand to share in the merriment. I was especially delighted to be there, having been out of the office
for a number of months due to an unexpected surgery.
Many thanks to Associate Publisher Molly Campbell and
Account Executive Laura Dugdale for reaching out and
working with our advertisers in my absence. Together
with our editorial team, we continue to provide a beautiful and useful magazine that will be an asset to the New
England design community, and the clients it serves, for many years to come.
As we look back on 2012, we are particularly pleased with the growth of our Design Salon
Series. Last fall, six showrooms welcomed consumers and design professionals to share in
interactive discussions of beautiful home projects. A spectacular Spring 2013 Salon Series
is already in the works. We also sponsored the International Furnishings and Design Association’s (IFDA) design awards (Page 109) and the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art’s
Bulfinch Awards. In January, we will again be sponsoring the Boston Society of Architects’
awards gala (Page 108). Look for the winners of that competition in our March/April issue.
