how quickly time flies. as we begin the new year with the
refreshing chill of a New England winter, we look forward to all
it holds. Starting 2012 off right is an event that recognizes the
outstanding work and contributions of New England’s residential design and construction professionals: the Boston Society
of Architects (BSA) Design Awards gala at the Boston Marriott
Copley Place on January 26 (see Page 109). Later in the year, the
American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) New England
chapter will welcome spring with its annual Awards Gala
“Celebrating Excellence in Design” at the InterContinental
Boston hotel on March 22 (see Page 72).
In November, at our Fifth Anniversary party at the
International Fine Arts Show, we had the pleasure of honoring
our first Mentors in Design (MIDDIES), a deserving group who were selected by a panel of independent judges from a wide array of nominations. We introduce the 2011 recipients starting on Page
22. To cap off the year, members of the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA)
New England chapter gathered in December for their annual holiday party at The Castle at Boston
University, an elegant turn-of-the-last-century building that set the tone for the festivites.
We at Design New England look forward to another year of presenting the beautiful homes and
gardens that showcase the work of design professionals and the creativity, problem-solving excellence, and dedication they bring to each and every project.
