MORE IS MORE • A simple wish list of double ovens and a master bathroom
shower turned into two dramatic makeovers and one happy homeowner
Double ovens and a shower on the third floor are all Claudia Arcand asked of the kitchen and master bathroom renovation of her Sutton, Massachusetts, home. “In the beginning, that’s all I wanted,” she says. Yet, once she sat down with Divine
Kitchens owner Mariette Barsoum and Heidi Marika-Perez,
Divine’s interior designer, to devise a plan, she quickly realized
that she actually wanted much more.
An avid cook, Arcand craved an open and spacious
kitchen and bath design by divine kitchens
kitchen with ample room to prepare meals, lots of storage,
and a layout that would easily accommodate her family of five.
She also yearned to reinvent the space, to update its traditional
aesthetic with a modern, “but not too modern,” feel.
This meant taking the renovation plans to the next
level — an entirely new floor plan in which the dining room
and kitchen changed places. “The original dining room was
much larger than the kitchen, so flipping the spaces made a
lot of sense,” says Barsoum. “There was also more natural light
and unobstructed views of Lake Manchaug in the old dining
room that we thought would add a lot to the kitchen.”
the heart of the new
kitchen is an island
large enough to
accommodate the family
of five. The square design
allows for seating on
three sides for face-to-face dining.
