interior designer Rachel Reider rejuvenated this 1900
“Victorian/Colonial hybrid” (facing page, bottom) to
reflect her modern sensibility. The living room (facing
page) is marked by eclectic touches that include orange
leather drums and patterned pillows. A zebra-print chair
nestled in a bay window plays off the ice-blue drapery for
a look Reider calls “soft modern.”
the living area of the great room is furnished with comfortable upholstered furniture by Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, a brand Hemenway sells at The Cottage at Four Corners, her shop in nearby Tiverton, Rhode Island. Accents come from antiques such as the chandelier she picked up in France and the carpet she bought years ago from Lee Joseph, an antiques dealer in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
