ROADSIDE ATTRACTIONS
Spend a chilly morning at one of these
sugarhouses, which sell everything from
deep-fried maple smothered cornballs to
eggs boiled in sap to an old-fashioned pint
of the sweet, brown nectar. Our favorites
are a little off the beaten track; for a
complete list of Vermont sugarers, visit
vermontmaple.org. Most are open
seasonally, so call ahead for hours of
operation.

Osha built a new sugarhouse last year.
When pressed to describe its architecture,
he says, “Oh, you know, just like ones you see
everywhere.” And so goes the organic, natural
