his architect son Isaac Newton Phelps Stokes,

Rather than ignore the existing Jesuit buildings (as so many architects would have done),
Rose made a respectful nod to their history by
employing similar massing. Then he bent the
guest rooms at the Annex (above, left) feature
environmentally friendly furnishings. Each of the
80 rooms offers a private bath (the dormitory-style
rooms in Shadowbrook share hall bathrooms and
showers). Yogis (above, right) leave the new
studio space after class.
