refined it, so that you get an overall sense of
the room when you enter, but when you are in
the shower or the bathtub, you have a sense of
privacy.”
The soaking tub the wife coveted is a classic
al set in a niche and surrounded with 30-inch-
square windows, which Beard customized with fir
cladding on the interior frames. A tub surround
of white marble quarried in Barre, Vermont, adds
an elegant finish to the alcove, which has views
through the trees to the unspoiled landscape.
“The house is in the middle of the property,” the
wife says, “so we are not concerned about neighbors.” There are woods as far as one can see, she
says, adding, “In the winter, it is just gorgeous.”
The renovation of the house, which now has
e bedrooms and four baths, was completed in
2006. The builder was Dan Ferriot of nearby East
the interior frames of the 30-inch-square

fir, to match the woodwork in the rest of the
room. The oval tub is set in a surround of
milky-white marble quarried in Barre, Vermont.
